I wouldn’t normally post more ‘pressy’ things like this, but as it involves my favourite online store, I thought I might.
Lovehoney have had an interesting year – their first prime time TV advert ran in September of this year much to the alarm of some of the more conservative newspapery types. You know – the ones who would find something to complain about if the skies started raining gold.
And aside from growing yet again in terms of online presence, number and range of products in stock, and general all round just being great-ness, it’s interesting to see that Lovehoney are moving on to the Highstreet when most adult retailers are moving off it.
Posh City Types
On top of that, Lovehoney have being buying sex toy production facilities and will be rolling out their own lines uner the name of Rock Box to the American market in 2012. So all in, pretty interesting to see that they are expanding not only through a recession but also as most of the sex toy, and adult entertainment industry in general is struggling. And I mean struggling.
Now, guys, you may well not have heard of Coco De Mer. To give it the very rough low down, it’s a posh dildo shop. A dildo boutique for posh London types. They do of course sell some posh cock toys for us posh guy types, but we aren’t the primary market.
I imagine Lovehoney will be incorporating any toys they didn’t stock already from the Coco De Mer range into their ever growing arsenal. And with their buying power, no doubt they can bring the prices down too.
Or maybe not, sometimes prices are kept artificially high to keep footballers’ wives happy in the knowledge that they own more expensive sex toys than the rest of us, because they are richer. A bit like buying an Aston Martin Cygnet.

Still, if you are rich and want to own the posh man’s Cygnet sex toy equivalent, check out the Lelo range, such as the Tor cock ring – and don’t forget to check out my handy guide on how to wear a cock ring here. Shameless plug.
So still, men aren’t really an acceptable target market for sex toys on the high street. Which is a shame. Maybe ten years from now things will have changed.
But thankfully until then, we still have fast growing online shops like Lovehoney to satisfy our every need
